The Hosting Region selected in your Dcisive configuration plays a critical role in determining where your data is physically stored and processed. This setting has important implications for data sovereignty, compliance, and performance.
What Is the Hosting Region?
The Hosting Region specifies the geographic location where your organization’s data is hosted within the Dcisive platform and guarantees that data does not leave the boundaries of your selected jurisdiction. This includes:
File storage
Tag indexing
Search operations
This setting is visible and configurable via the General tab in the Admin Settings screen.
Why It Matters: Data Sovereignty
Selecting the correct hosting region ensures that your data remains subject to the laws and regulations of that jurisdiction. This is especially important for:
Data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, Australian Privacy Act)
Industry-specific compliance (e.g., financial services, healthcare, government)
Contractual or customer commitments around where data is stored
By aligning your hosting region with your operational or regulatory requirements, Dcisive supports your organization's compliance posture.
Setting the Hosting Region
The hosting region is agreed upon with the customer during the initial setup of the Dcisive environment. It reflects your organization's data residency and compliance needs from day one. Once set, all data operations within Dcisive will align with the selected region.
If you have questions about which region is best suited for your organization, your Dcisive implementation team will work with you to make the right choice during onboarding.
