Dcisive file search

Updated over 6 months ago

The file search in Dcisive is a powerful tool that helps users locate digital files quickly and efficiently. By using search parameters and filters, users can narrow down their results and locate the specific files they need. This article will guide you through how to use the search screen, apply filters, and view metadata for individual files.

Performing a Search

In Dcisive, you can search using any metadata tag associated with digital files on the platform. As you type into the search bar at the top of the screen, Dcisive will automatically provide a list of matching metadata tag names to help refine your search. You can enter keywords, or any metadata values - such as asset ID, serial number or location.

Once you select or input your search term, Dcisive will display all files that match the relevant metadata, along with a count of the total number of results.

The files are also organized by the time they were captured, making it easier to find the most recent or relevant files, ensuring quick and efficient file retrieval.

Applying Filters to Refine Your Search

Once the initial search results appear, you can further refine them using filters. Filters help you narrow down the types of files displayed based on various criteria. Here are the main filter options available:

  • File Type: This filter allows you to select the file type you're looking for (image, document, or other). If you're only interested in certain formats, you can apply this filter to remove irrelevant file types from your search results.

  • Date Range: You can filter files based on their creation dates, allowing you to locate recent files or those from a specific time period.

To apply a filter, simply click on the relevant filter category and make your selection. The search results will automatically update to reflect your new filter settings.

Viewing Files in Full-Screen Mode

To view a file in full-screen format, simply double-click on the file or click the preview button located at the top right of the file in Dcisive.

This will expand the file to a full-screen view, allowing you to see images in their entirety or scroll through the contents of a PDF without distractions. The full-screen mode enhances visibility and makes it easier to examine details or review documents comprehensively.

Viewing Metadata for a Selected File

Once you’ve found a file in the search results, you can view detailed metadata about that file in the metadata panel on the right-hand side of the screen. The metadata panel provides important information about the selected file, displaying all metadata fields that have been provided for the file.

To view the metadata for a file, simply click on the file in the search results. The metadata panel will then populate with all relevant metadata tags. This feature allows you to analyse additional information about the file while reviewing its contents.

Quick Search Using Metadata Tags

Clicking on a metadata tag for a specific file in Dcisive will automatically apply that tag to the search bar, instantly initiating a search for all files associated with that metadata. This seamless feature allows you to quickly locate related files without having to manually type the search term, making the search process faster and more efficient. By leveraging metadata tags, you can easily explore files with similar attributes or associations across the platform.
