Profile Management

Updated over 6 months ago

There are 2 key components within the Salesforce Dcisive View component:

  1. Dcisive View - this allows users to view files associated with the appropriate Salesforce object

  2. Dcisive Auth - this is a component for Salesforce Administrators to manage the connection from the Dcisive View component within Salesforce to Dcisive APIs

In order to ensure that only Salesforce Administrators have access to the Dcisive Auth component, appropriate profiles need to be updated to remove access to the Dcisive View app and tab.

Step 1 - Navigate to the Setup Salesforce View

A user with appropriate permissions (typically a System Administrator) will select "Setup" from the Setup Menu (select the gear icon on the top right):

Step 2 - Navigate to the Profiles View

Within the setup view, type "Users" in the quick find box:

Select the Profile that should be updated with permissions for the Dcisive Auth app:

Step 3 - Edit Profile to Remove Access

If the profile administration section contains all settings in a single page, proceed with option A, otherwise move to Option B:

Option A - Single Screen Management

Within the Profile view click the "Edit" button:

Navigate to the "Custom App Settings" section and unselect/select the "Dcisive" option for profiles based on whether it should have access to the Dcisive Auth app:

Navigate to the "Tab Settings" section and select "Tab Hidden" for the "Dcisive Administration" tab if the profile is not an admin profile. For admin profiles, select "Default On" in the dropdown.

Navigate back to the top of the profile and select "Save":

Option B - Single Screen Management

Select the "Assigned Apps" section, click "Edit" and unselect/select the "Dcisive" option for profiles based on whether it should have access to the Dcisive Auth app:

Select "Save" upon completion. Navigate to the "Object Settings" section, select "Dcisive Administration":

Select "Edit":

Select "Tab Hidden" or "Default On" depending on whether the profile should have access to the Dcisive Administration screen:

Click "Save" when the tab setting is correctly set.

Step 4 - Repeat Process for All Profiles

Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all profiles to ensure appropriate access throughout the organisation.

Step 5 - Update Salesforce Trusted URL

Navigate to the trusted URL setting within the setup page:

Click "Edit" for the DcisiveFile trusted URL:

Enter the URL provided by Dcisive team and select "Save".
